Serverless applications are often referred to as being made up of small pieces loosely joined together. The typical serverless applications will be made up of single-purpose Lambda functions, APIs, queues, topics, event buses, and workflows. Serverless applications also align well with event-driven architectures, which bring their own challenges with observability.

In this workshop, you’ll gain hands-on experience observing, debugging, and resolving issues with a real serverless application powering the product backend of an e-commerce website. You’ll use infrastructure as code (IaC) to deploy your application, add Datadog observability, debug issues, and gain deeper insight into application errors, cold starts, and other performance measures. This workshop covers the full spectrum of AWS serverless services: Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, Step Functions, and ECS Fargate.
