Monitoring Open Source Success in Arduino

Silvano Cerza

Silvano Cerza

Software Engineer | Arduino

Arduino is an open-source hardware and software company, project, and user community that designs and manufactures single-board microcontrollers and microcontroller kits for building digital devices. In the course of developing software downloaded and used by millions around the world, we have found it vitally important to be aware of the quality and performance of our software.

In this talk, Silvano will tell the story of how they started using Datadog in an unusual way to monitor the success of one of the most important of its Open Source projects, the Arduino CLI, by gathering download information from different sources and monitoring build failures. We’ll also explore some of the next steps we can take to gain insight into our other projects.

This would be an interesting talk for Open Source maintainers that might want to be more knowledgeable about their projects, ease their development process and share this information with the community.
